Christmas 2021

Our Christmas decorations had a 'Xmas Tree' theme. We made a finger print xmas tree card, a glittery xmas tree with a candy cane and then a xmas tree ornament for our trees. What a great way to end the year.

Reading - Poetry

WALT respond to different types of poems. We are going to use different poems to help us practice our reading strategies.

Music with Matua Jade

WALT explore different musical instruments and we are learning to give different types of music a go.

We play music 🎶 it was cool because there was a lot of different instruments to play with. I liked the guitar and electric piano.

Simple Circuits

We are learning about electricity and how to build a simple circuit.

We used play dough, a battery, wires and an LED light.

Narrative Writing - The Whispher

The children write for a total of 40 minutes. Within that timeframe they have to plan their writing (a brainstorm) write, edit and re-craft their work. They are not allowed to use dictionaries or word cards. The students completed their writing on paper but have typed it out for their blogs.

Water - An Amazing Substance

1. We are using water to help us understand different scientific concepts.

2. I did Science and we learnt about GRAVITY. First I had a cup of water and a plastic lid. Then I put the lid on the cup and turned it over. I took my hand away and the water stayed!!!!! Next one is hot water and cold water so you need to turn hot water and cold water is strong then hot water.

My Speech - Lego is the Best Toy

Kia ora,

Kaiora's speech was about his passion, LEGO. His speech was fantastic and he placed in the top 5 speeches in our class speech competition. I thought his speech was so good, I shared it with LEGO and this was their wonderful reply. In addition to this the lovely team at LEGO sent Kaiora a lego gift. You can watch Kaiora's reaction on the video. He was pretty happy!!! Thank you to Lego for your thoughtful reply and wonderful gift to a very dedicated Lego fan.

Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori

 We are learning the Te Reo maori for different fruit (hua rākau). Pukapuka (reading books) is my favourite part of learning te Reo. Now I know a lot of new Te Reo words like whare whare kemu-bingo, takaro - to play and papa takaro this means playground. Arai mata are face masks. I like saying this word because it is easy to say. We learnt a new word every day which was called kupu o te ra. We learnt rima new words i tenei wiki.

Lego 2020 and 2021

    

I went and saw a lego car and godzilla in 2020. Now I have made a city and it took 3 weeks time.  

The Olympic Games

At the Olympics I liked watching basketball.  Australia played the basketball games. It is cool. It is like I play in the team ... woo go!  I am going to play went I am older like 17.

We have been learning about the taonga in our school and community. The taonga in our school and community help us to tell our stories. We have also been learning our pepeha. My pepeha is a way to introduce my It tells other people who I am and where I come from.

MAHUIKA ART

When I went to the bird park with Mrs Neki, my class went to a show called 'Mahuika - the goddess of fire.'  This is the piece of art I did about MAHUIKA the goddess of fire.

Term 2 - Legends Assembly

We are learning to use descriptive language in our writing.

I hid behind the drum because the girls did the poi and we did the beat. It was a good assembly and I liked kieran's part. It was a great assembly to do. Rona and the moon was retold by JK rowling. Jesse and me were the kids. Me and Jesse acted in the green room to whaea Deb . She had the ipad and tripod to film us.

Morewa School Learning Day

I went to Morewa School for people who  have hearing and mrs Neki took me to it. I play soccer and i got a goad it was us big boys an it was hard and we won the game. I did science experiment. I did the Lava lamp and wrap the eggs and it didn~t break.

ANZAC DAY

 ANZAC DAY  is to remember the men and women who went to war. lest we forget. we wear poppies because they were the first flowers that grew on the battlefield. Dawn ceremonies are a time to remember all the people from different countries.

WALT ask a question for data collection, create a survey to carry out a simple investigation, make a tally chart and create a bar graph.

if we ask more than one question weare conducting a survey the x axis is horizontal and the yaxis is vertical a bar graph needs a title and labels.

 

Dear Future Me

We have been learning about the America's Cup Yacht Race. WALT set goals for our future self.

Peter Burling was the youngest helmsman NZ has ever had. He set a goal when he was 11 to race in the America's Cup when he grew up. I am setting myself a goal for 'My Future Self'.

The Great Reading Adventure

We are learning to write a moment in time about our class assembly, 'The Great Reading Adventure.

Here comes the sun started and I felt extraordinary! I was one of Maui brothers! and I said we can't make the sun go more slowly. The sun blew me away it was too fast. We don't' have time to eat our food and do all our jobs.

Last Friday my mum picked me up because there was a tsunami evacuation. I went to my nan's home. I played with my dog. I felt it was like was going to stay for ever. I went home when it was safe again.
